In order to achieve our mission, The Better Project relies on vital support from our generous volunteers. Each year, many volunteers from various communities commit to donating their time to make a difference in the lives of children and families through the opportunities listed below. Will you join us?

Opportunities for Individuals

Youth Mentor: Mentors provide the opportunity for mentees to build healthy relationships with caring adults who provide impactful guidance. Mentoring is a great way to help teach young people valuable life lessons that they can take with them wherever their journey takes them. Mentors meet mentees in the communities where they live to engage in activities that contribute to a host of benefits such as promoting healthy relationships and lifestyle choices, improving education outcomes and attitudes about school, and enhancing self-esteem and self-confidence. Background check and 12-month commitment required.

The Better Brigade: Throughout the year, TBP hosts events and special projects that require volunteer support. Examples include activities associated with our school supply giveaway, donation drives, and other general organizational initiatives. These volunteers help as needed and have no required time commitments.

Group Opportunities

Host an Event: Many generous supporters choose to host events in honor of TBP by requesting in-kind gifts as the cost of admission, asking for financial gifts during the event, or by donating the proceeds of an event to TBP.

REQUIREMENTS TO NOTE

Onboarding: Ongoing volunteer opportunities require an application, interview, background check (including fingerprinting), and two letters of reference are required. Once all steps are completed, the volunteer will be cleared to complete training.
